PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN GLOBAL TRADE AND E-BUSINESS
The Professional Diploma in Global Trade and e-Business is highly regarded within the Industry and geared towards those who seek a formally recognised qualification, or to broaden their knowledge of International Trade and e-Business practices. This programme provides global businesses with trained professionals who have the necessary skills to contribute effectively to the expanding international trading environment.
Management development opportunities for graduates include areas in International Trade, Trade Finance Management, Logistics & Supply Chain, e-Business, International Marketing and Trade Compliance. Examinations are held mid June, end of January and end of August.

COURSE
MODULES
- Trade & Customs Practice
This is the core subject of the course. It provides the student with a thorough
grounding in International Trade Practice, from the Globalisation of the
Economy through WTO and Association Agreements to Export Documentation and
Customs compliance issues such as consular documents, tariffs and rules
of origin.
- Finance of International Trade
Students are provided with a practical understanding of complex issues such
as securing payment, trade finance, currency management and minimising risk,
which they can then apply to their day-to-day business activities.
- e-Business
Students are equipped with a detailed understanding of the impact of e-Business
on traditional business methods with a focus on those dealing in global
markets. Topics covered include network security, marketing and legal issues,
development of e-business.
- Logistics & Distribution
This course helps develop an understanding of the problems associated with
controlling, storing and moving goods through the supply chain. It also
explores the latest and future developments in supply chain management such
as e-Procurement and Vendor Managed Inventory.
- Export Market Entry Strategy
This module begins with the basics of Marketing moving quickly on to focus
on the International Marketing Environment allowing students to understand
and deal with the specific problems related to export marketing and enable
them to develop an appropriate market entry strategy while dealing with
cultural and legal differences.
- Law of International Trade
This aims to equip participants with a thorough knowledge of law, domestically
and internationally, from Marine Law, Hague-Visby and the Warsaw Convention
to recent e- Commerce and Data Protection legislation.
- Business Information Systems
This course is designed to provide a good understanding of the theory and
practice of Information and Communications Technology. It allows students
to appreciate the potential of ICT, covering issues like security and control,
enhancing decision making and managing systems development.
- Global Trade Project
Each student must complete the global trade project before been eligible
to graduate. This subject is designed to demonstrate the student's understanding
of the course and how it relates to contemporary international trade. Export
Edge Training provide tutorial support and interim project assignments to
help students excel in this subject.
AWARDS
Students are recognised for their achievements in assignments and examinations
with Pass, Merit or Distinctions. The student who attains the best overall
results, achieves the top national award, which is sponsored by Enterprise
Ireland. In addition, an award is presented annually to the student that
submits the best Global Trade Project, which is sponsored by Ulster Bank.
